Kate Johnston

Kate is a connector of people and places. Born in the livingroom of a house, just blocks away from Westminster United Church of Christ, Kate finds joy in creating meaningful connections in her family, neighborhood and the Pacific Northwest at large.

Kate previously worked in the project management division of an engineering firm. Later, she served for one year as an Activity Room Attendant at Westminster. Since then — before getting back into being a public educator-- Kate worked for two years at YWCA Spokane with a team of advocates, lawyers, mental health clinicians, journalists and detectives to provide justice and a safe place for survivors of financial abuse and domestic violence. That experience guides much of her approach in her current projects.

Kate believes the purpose and potential of relationship is to heal the wounds of our hearts and to know ourselves better. At Westminster Kate fosters an environment where youth and the young-at-heart can build a practice of finding a place of peace within themselves-- a place that fosters joy and healing while we walk together with the story of Jesus.
